Research is an integral part of our daily work. It allows us to reach important conclusions for our clients and stakeholders and come up with inovative solutions by combining, improving or finidng a new use for existing ones. Our creative approach facilitates collaborations with very different fields to develop them. To achieve that we have participated in EU grant projects and are always open for partnerships in new interesting research-related funded endeavours. For this purpose MJZ established as well LURE- the Laboratory of Urban Research & Education , an urban think-tank which is an registered association is the official partner of the European Commission in the New European Bauhaus project.

Current skryscrapers are analysed mostly as single sculpturistic objects without the understanding and notion of looking at dense city centers as groups of urban vertical settlements . This study for a Chinese city was focused on examining their possible solar and view relation with liberated ground floors or carved facades,

A lot of major companies don't have a dynamic but a fixed rate for electricity costs. If only the excess of generated power could be stored during night time it could be kept in Lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage Systems. Later it might be used internally on site or externally when combined with city grids. The outlook of these power stations could be quite visually appealing with green walls and an infographic touch screen window that displays important information about the sustainable use of electricity in the cities. We have prepared a showcase project for a technological enterprise with storages located in gas stations, which here could operate efficiently as a testing ground.

FILLING STATIONS OF THE FUTURE
Gas Stations are one of the most popular structures in the World visible on almost every corner in every city, small town or connecting highway. So how is it possible that when it comes to discussing the future of urban mobility and the upcoming electric car revolution nobody focuses on the buildings and places that would service this transtion? We should definetly start to think about them as adaptable structures which are ment to be devoted to the close future but at the moment would still function as usual as no one knows exactly when the time will be right for the big change in the way we commute. Another important issue would be the environmental friendly aspect when theses service stations could become green city utilities with a focus not on only one type of natural resource but also many other. As a results of this approach a series of concept projects for various locations were prepared.

FUTURE OF URBAN MOBILITY
FUTURE OF URBAN MOBILITY
How will we commute in 5, 10, 20 and 30 years time? Would we travel with organised autonomous pods or maybe rather we would devote the ground floor level again entirely to nature and focus on the underground communication systems. In this vision we have used one of our infrstructural projects related to mobility in cities as a showcase for those scenarios with our home city Warsaw as a testing ground for this new type of metropolitan design.

Houses are never the same. Depending on the location, climate, tradition they hold different forms that react differently with the surrouding envrionemt. In this study we aimed at liberating from these constraints to look for other ways of expression in the creation of urban living habitats.

When working on a project in Tripoly, Libya we have studied terrorism prevention methods wich nowadays are a popular matter drawing the attention in many turbulent places on the globe. In many cases they alter our lifestyle or the ways how cities and buildings are perceived. We think that it is possible to create safe structures without building walls or fortresses applying at the same time a range of sustainable features that would improve the quality of life for citizens.

CLIMATE CHANGE ARCHITECTURE
With record breaking warm temperatures in Scandinavia, fires at the Mediteranean Sea area or monsoon-like heavy rains in Central Europe at the same time it is more then clear that climate change is real. There is no time to waist as the changes in the atmosphere are proceeding very fast. Architecture needs to catch up and address this important issue. For almost 10 years we try to adress it and strive to deliver concepts to be implemented for the protection of people. We also look at the possible potential that these new happenings could hold such as natural resources harvesting and storing or transforming wind energy into electricity that could allow to break free form the addiction from coal.

WATER - THE NEXT OIL
Many countries face the problem of potable water deficit. Even the ones with heavy rain seasons like Asian aglomerations. It's a paradox but it is mostly related to the lack of harvesting and storing capabilities. Natural reservoirs of this precious resource will become important locations just as once gold mines and later oil fields were. In the coming years water will become a precious currency even worth fighting for as some conflicts are predicted to rise over it. This could be avoided if a water collecting agenda could be spread just as smart grids are. We have implemented it in a few of our designs in different locations in the World ranging from Libya in North Africa to Taiwan in South Asia.

HYPERLOOP IN CENTRAL EASTERN EUROPE
As architects and urbanists we see a big potential in old unused rail paths in the Central Eastern Europe region. Many connections were canceled over the years and as a result routes which are cleared from obstructions were left apart. These paths seem perfect to be utilized for new means for commuting such as hyperloop tubes. We have mapped these lines and prepared concepts for stations that are needed to service this type of infrastructural projects.

CITY CONTROL CENTERS
CITY CONTROL CENTERS
Every year more and more people leave the country side and cities around the World grow, becoming dense aglomerations sometimes called megapolis due to it's size. These supercities become complex organisms with many important issues to tackle on a daily basis. In order to monitor and administer their functioning, command centers could be created that would improve their performance and could solve problems related with public transport, traffic, polution or the distribution of resources such as water or electricity. We have used Shenzhen in China as a showcase scenario for this concept that could be later applied in other megacities in different continents.

VERNACULAR NATURAL DISASTER MITIGATION
VERNACULAR NATURAL DISASTER MITIGATION
Due to climate change many locations around the World are facing the impact of natural disasters like flooding, earthquakes, hurricanes. In many cases it is pointless in relying on expensive technology which still becomes useless when clashing with forces of nature. The answers to many problems are kept in the past with vernacular systems that efficiently were protecting people or harvesting resources. In almost every project we try to look for this hidden potential. One of the most clear examples of our approach was the proposal for Taichung on Tawian where we by solving one important local issue we tried to prevent another one from happening.

Some factory buildings are important witnesses of modernist times. They hold a resistent and functional structural system but due to the previous production placed in those locations they are under a quarantine due to contamination. We used a factory in the Wola Disctrict in Warsaw, Poland to examine the possibilities of creating interventions for living

The race for the tallest super towers in Asian, European or American regions often generates structures that are not logic in terms of their practical use. A big number of upper floors become inhabitable due to unpleasant living or working conditions related to strong winds and building's oscillation. Costs as well increase when it comes to delievering for example water in vertical 1km distances.

Whenever a new town or city is built they appear as support facilities. This way they are one of the most popular structures worldwide. All of them posses a great potential with their roofs and walls as they could serve not only one function but also many others at the same time. This approach we prepared is highly important as cities will be getting much denser and their space will be much more valued.

In many areas in the World which do not hold enough or quality spaces for building purposes land is beeing created in places that were previously seas and lakes. Minced granite reinforced with concrete as solid as it appears does not have the same features as natural soil. Some changes come at great cost resulting in liquefication and building disasters. To prevail those happenings we delivered a strategy featuring terraced structures and piling.

Adding to the creative ideas and solutions that respond to the COVID-19 reality we envisioned how our current projects might be affected. The hospitality sector is one that would have to drastically rethink it's business core. During the pandemic hotels would not able to receive their normal guests and could rely on a diiferent type of users. Afer it on the other side they would be able to return to their normal function but with a limited offer - in most countries beeing able to host only half of the guests capacity, A new purpose for hospiality buildings might then come up. With every problem there is a hidden potential to be discovered.

Robotics might seem far too detached from nature but in reality it is already present in the farmlands in a worldwide scale. The country side is becoming the place of the new technological revolution with machines growing plants on their own in enormous warehouses without any humans present. But robots can be also connected with the society and nature at the same time on urban farming sites in cities. Here they would offer a helping hand for this type of gardening that is recenty experiencing it's renewal.
