THE NEW NORMAL 

BEFORE- COVID- & POST-COVID SCENARIOS WITH HOSPITALITY DESIGN AS THE MAIN SHOWCASE 
Adding to the creative ideas and solutions that respond to the COVID-19 reality we envisioned how our current projects might be affected. The hospitality sector is one that would have to drastically rethink it's business core. During the pandemic hotels would not able to receive their normal guests and could rely on a diiferent type of users. After it on the other side, they would be able to return to their normal function but with a limited offer - in most countries beeing able to host only half of the guests capacity. A new purpose for hospiality buildings might then come up. With every problem there is a hidden potential to be discovered. Adaptability is key in the current pandemic times.

HOTEL BACKYARD BEFORE AND DURING COVID

Social distancing rules would be applied not only in the interior of the hotel but it's exterior. Especially in places normally designed for large group gatherings or exercising.

SWIMMING POOL AREA BEFORE AND DURING COVID

The normal use of swimming pools is a healthy option as a good excercise and generally they should not be closed during pandemics. In the case of medics however that would temporarily live in hotels social distancing is key.

RESTAURANT WITH LOBBY BEFORE AND DURING COVID

The pandemic hotel would have much less seating spaces in the restaurant and a lower capacity in the foyer.

When inhabited by medics the restaurant area would be used as a cantine. In the post-covid times the entire building could be adapted to an entirely new function such as separated offices.

VIEW TERRACE BEFORE AND DURING COVID

Social distancing would effect all areas - including the ones which normally were not that crowded like view terraces.

FRONTYARD WITH PARKING BEFORE AND DURING COVID

The parking and generous driveway area would be suitable to organize meeting spots for dispatched medics.

HOTEL ROOM BEFORE AND DURING COVID

The ammount of people in each room would be limited in the pandemic hotel version. The standards however would be the same, delivering a place to rest and relax for the first responders.

HOTEL ROOM DURING AND AFTER COVID

The strong demand and great competition in the hospitality business generated perfect conditions for the visitors. Ventilation or air-condition standards came near to perfection in hotel rooms making it possible to adapt these spaces for working purposes.
